Youth Programs

 Lyrical & Jazz

6-8 year olds

October 19 - November 23

This is such a great combination with 30 minutes of Lyrical and 30 minutes of jazz, each style will consist of warm-ups, across the floor combinations and will end with learning a dance in the center.  The class is geared for learning, building self-confidence and coordination while having fun.  Although lyrical is similar to Ballet it is less structured and often thought of as one of the most expressive styles of dance.  During the jazz portion we will explore different styles from the more stylish Broadway Jazz to the funkier video style Jazz.

The instructor for this course is Sue White.  She has been a part of the dance world for over 30 years.  Her students include Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary; Modern, Musical Theater, Hip Hop, Drama, Voice and Acro.

This 6-week course will run from October 19 to November 23 for children 6-8 years old.  Lyrical & Jazz will be held on Saturdays in the Café at the Raymond Middle School from 11:00 – 12:00 pm.  The fee for the 6-week course is $60.  Non-residents pay an additional $5.  Please bring a water bottle and wear a black leotard and tan tights.

SAFE SITTER®

Why is a babysitting course so important?  Families in our community need responsible babysitters.  These babysitters need to learn how to safely care for younger children before they offer to babysit.  Safe Sitter is designed to help provide safe and secure care for young children while empowering young adolescents to become tomorrow’s workers and parents.  The Babysitting Course will provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe, and learn about basic child care and basic first aid.  Babysitting classes are offered to student’s who are age 11 and older.  The instructors for this course are all SAFE SITTER® Certified.

This 2-day course will be held Tuesday & Thursday, November12th & 14th from 3:00 – 5:30 pm.  You must attend both days!  A completion card is given to students who pass the hands-on exam.  The fee for this course is $60.  Non-residents pay an additional $5.  Classes will be held at the Raymond Middle School in room 187.

When we arrive at the mountain, we will get ready for some skiing/snowboarding.  Students who have signed up will be escorted out to their 1-hour lesson.  Those who did not sign up for lessons will have free ski.  After lessons, students will come inside the lodge for dinner (bring food or money to buy) and check in with our Recreation Staff. After eating, students will go back outside and continue with some free skiing/snowboarding until it is time to pack up.  We will leave Pats Peak by 7:15 pm to be at Raymond High School for pick up at 8:15 pm.

If you are interested in signing up for the program either call the Recreation Department at 603-895-7031 or email recreation@raymondnh.gov and we will send you the registration packet (you must get the access code from Raymond Recreation in order to register for Pats Peak).  You will then need to fill out an emergency form, school release form and pay the bus fee through Raymond Recreation.  Make sure to read through the guide, there is a lot of important information about the program.  Sign up early, we have a limited number of spaces available, and we have filled to capacity the last few years.

The Pats Peak program is a night skiing/riding program on Tuesday afternoon and early evening.  We ride in a comfortable luxury coach bus with under bus storage, TV’s, a restroom, and each seat even has lights so students can do their homework on the ride.
